In short: Located in Prague’s Church of Our Lady Victorious, this nineteen-inch wax-coated statue was brought from Spain and later restored after being found in rubbish. Today, the Sisters of the Child Jesus dress it in over one hundred royal costumes based on the liturgical calendar.

In short: Legend says the true magic sword is walled inside the foundations of Charles Bridge. In Prague’s darkest hour, Saint Wenceslas’s horse will stumble on a stone and reveal the blade, which the saint will use to defeat the city’s enemies.

In short: Mozart conducted the world premiere of Don Giovanni at the Estates Theatre in Prague in 1787. It is the only theatre left standing where Mozart performed and was later used as the filming location for the movie Amadeus.

In short: Founded in 1391, the Bethlehem Chapel was where Jan Hus preached reform in Czech to 3,000 people. Demolished in 1786, the building was reconstructed in the 1950s by Jaroslav Fragner using original foundations and historical sketches.

In short: Beneath the paving stones lie Hellenistic walls, Roman drainage systems, and Byzantine fortifications. The street’s medieval layout was designed to confuse invaders. Additionally, local legends suggest some basements contain secret tunnels used for escape or transporting supplies to the Old Fortress.
